World Oceans Day is an annual observation to honour, help protect, and conserve the world’s oceans. The ocean provides us with many resources and services including oxygen, climate regulation, food sources, medicine, and more. I love making mermasaurs, I have a fearful respect for the sea, nightmares are full of apocolyptic giant waves. It’s presesnt in my illustration but more apparent in my other practice.( got bold and made a vlog HERE )
The awesome duo BondGirls have been doing their bit with Surfers Against Sewage doing local beach cleans, up and down the Norfolk coast collecting plastic sea debris. Further inland it’s a battle against plastic, single use plastic in particular has been making it’s way into my home less and less. The SAS have different community projects to get involved with, check them out. World Oceans Day also provides an opportunity to take personal and community action to conserve the ocean and its resources.
